The best theatre in the South West. Currently closed for a few month for refurbishment, we usually go three to four times a year. They have all the national tour companies from the top London shows along with more regional ones. When built, a very innovative scenery tower. Having recently been to the Lyceum Theatre in London, the quality of... More

I am probably a bit biased, as a self-confessed musical theatre fanatic, but I went to see Chicago here and loved it! As a student, I love the Theatre Royal's ANLO scheme, especially for students like me, who desperately want to go to the theatre, but maybe can't afford it all too often.

Brilliant Show!! Now what I would normally go to, but was with a friend and I was transfixed. It was really clever and simple, but complex at the same time.

The latest shows and a warm welcome at affordable prices. We used to attend London theatres but infrequently due to the prices. Living in Plymouth allows us to attend lots of plays, ballets and musicals.

the atmosphere , the bar area's , the performance. but unless you have short legs, a narrow waist ,prepare yourself.the seats are probably the most uncomfortable I have ever paid to sit in!!. i know what a sardine feels like now.

With two theatres to choose from, the Theatre Royal and Drum can provide a wide variety of entertainment. I think there are too many musicals but demand dictates. Interesting to see what the new front brings.

Looking sad in the midst of a building site the theatre has just begun a major updating and rebuilding project. Exterior recladding for insulation purposes and reworking of the front to create better access and an outside terrace. Not a mark of falling into poor condition but of the success of the last decades and a determination to take on... More

I re-visited the smaller Drum Threatre within the Theatre Royal with my adult daughter at the end of March to see the new play Forever House. There is a good restaurant to eat before a performance or to have a snack lunch and always helpful and pleasant staff. I do think there should have been a mention of the bad... More

Even though the Theatr Royal is not a vast place the sound quality is superb and there is no problem with being stuck behind pillars. I have been visiting this theater since it has been open. Watch out for the price of food and drink, this can be expensive.
