I have not been to Clovelly for years but what a dissapointment. They have built this awful so called visitor centre at the entrance. Its just a shed full of tat! The cobbled street looked unloved now and as for entering the best kept village competition. Forget it. We even saw one chap weeding the path and throwing the weeds... More

We have just returned from a lovely day out, we have visited Hartland Quay and Point and then had lunch at the nearby Lavender Centre, all was so relaxing and uncomplicated, then we decided to visit Clovelly! What a farce, under no circumstances would I pay to visit a village that is part of my country, it is a disgrace, I... More

Lovely place....wow it's steep both going down and coming back up. Use the land rover service a t the end to come back if you think you would struggle to climb back up

What a special place! This is a must to visit. This stunning village has it all. For many years the donkeys pulled the sleighs, delivering various goods. It's such a quaint place. Walking down the cobbled path is really unique. There is so much to do on a visit - you could stay there all day. The locals live in cottages, amongst... More

We visited on what we guessed was a quiet day, it was hard work, my friend is part way through chemotherapy and I have an arthritic knee but we went down to the harbour and back. It is steep and what makes it really difficult is the cobbles, but it is so pretty and quaint. The weather wasn't good but... More

Such a terrible let down. Clovelly is synonymous with a lovely North Devon seaside village that you 'simply must visit'. Many places advertise the events and how wonderful the place is and you get drawn in. So you pack up and head off for the day. If you do you are in for a MASSIVE disappointment to your wallet. Expecting... More

Had a really enjoyable 4 hours a Clovelly helped by the fact it was a sunny day! The visitor centre was well stocked with gifts and a large cafe. I thought the entrance fee reasonable given that it includes parking, toilets and helps maintain the village. It's a very steep walk on cobbled streets so good footwear is a must,... More

It is so unusual to find a place where there are no cars and everything is how it was years a go. I loved Clovelly and although some people are complaining about the entrance fee they need to understand that a place of such beauty needs money from visitors to help maintain the little village. I found the walk down... More

We were looking forward to returning to Clovelly after many years only to find that the place had been privatised and prior to even seeing the village every conceivable way of extracting money from visitors was evident. It was £6.50 EACH just to enter the village. You are not allowed to walk there without going through the Visitor Centre and... More

Clean modern building that is somewhat at odds with the traditional village it leads to but it offers all facilities required, such as parking, toilets, refreshments, a history of the village and shops. Also a landrover service to and from the vollage for those that are less able. In all honesty, I had walking boots on and whilst I found... More
