Trerice is a National Trust property fairly close to Newquay in Cornwall. Newquay has got a bit of a questionable reputation but Trerice is a hidden gem that is well worth seeking out. The approach to the property is down a narrow lane which can be a bit hairy (as are many of the Cornish roads) but when you get... More

Having joined the National Trust we decided to make the most of our membership so we went out of our way to visit Trerice. Worth the detour. Plenty of things to get you hands on, including wearing chain-mail, if you can lift it up, and medeaval armour helmet. then games outside to play. For the more seriously minded the house... More

This is an almost perfect small manor house accessible only via narrow roads (one of which crosses a ford). Fantastic great hall with minstrel gallery - and a huge leaded glass window (damaged by supersonic Concorde trials many years ago). Food in the great barn is standard NT fare but the building is interesting. More

We visited Trerice Manor home, just outside Newquay, this past Feb. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, as my mother was in a wheelchair. We really enjoyed the visit. There are also wonderful countryside walks just off the car park. More

Lovely place with friendly staff. Also the Barn Cafe was excellent with lots of choice and very tasty. Plenty of things arranged for the kids including dressing up in period costumes and armour. Even Gandad put the armour on!! More

I thought the hands on artefacts were interesting including the chain mail. Unfortunately the weather was bad when we visited so didn't get much chance to see the gardens. More

The house, apart from the main hall, is furnished with items not connected with the house. It takes less than an hour to view the house and gardens (the gardens are not up to much!) More

My first visit to this NT property came on an overcast and cold day and I am sure this affected how long we spent in the gardens. This propertly is on the small side for the NT but offers a great chance to walk around a manor house that you can actually imagine living in. It has a lot of... More

We have visited Trerice several times, there are items for the children to touch and try on, some of the guides are very knowledgable and some are a bit stuffy, especially with children. I am a member of the NT and so have visited with various friends and family at various times of the year. Christmas time is especially good.... More
