Dyrham park is within easy access of motorway networks and close to Bristol and Bath. On arrival the house is located in a dip but for people who do not want to walk a bus is provided, the walk to the house is stunning there are mature trees and deer at the top of the walk and stunning views. We started our visit by walking the grounds in search of deer. We found three groups of beautiful fallow deer grazing under the mature trees. Lovely views before finally reaching the house itself nestling lower down. There is a courtesy bus that can take you to the house and bring you back afterwards but we wanted the exercise after a... Simple NT house in nice gardens. We'd a part-day to fill on journey to Bristol, this was nearby and we are NT members. The tour is self-guiding (the "have you been here before" reception at the gatehouse was a bit too much with a queue building behind us, but the house itself is just right in terms of guide input).... For just £5 (if you are not a National Trust member) you can access this amazing park. It's great for a picnic with the kids.

On my previous visit, I just did not have time to investigate the parkland: it really is stunning. The hillfort walk takes about forty minutes and provides amazing views (unfortunately, including a little of the M4). Last visit, there was no time for the church either and it is worth a look.

An interesting National Trust property - well worth a visit. Just as well there was a bus service as there is a good 10 minute walk from the car park.

Stopped off here on way to Bristol for a short break. We walked down to the house to stretch our legs but its a good job they have a bus down as it is very steep. Nice house with some interesting contents, not terribly big or grand but plenty for an hour. Lovely grounds, but better I imagine in the... More

We arranged to meet a friend at Dyrham Park but sadly the weather was awful. We were not going to be put off and joining a tour to observe the deer. The tour guide was knowledgeable, flexible and friendly. The shop is well worth a visit too, they stock some really nice things. We also visited the restaurant and consumed... More

National Trust waived fees for the weekend and prompted 100s of people to visit, me included. Best thing about the grounds: rare fritillaries growing near the ponds and plenty of space for a picnic. The house is exactly what you would expect from a stately home and so your enjoyment will depend on how much you like room after room... More
