Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hi there. Thanks for sharing this update. We just wanted to give a little bit more context...Unfortunately our building was forced to close in April due to a fire on the roof. We expect to be closed for a few months while surveys and repairs are carried out. In the meantime we're running free activities out on Millennium Square and at various events across Bristol throughout the summer. Keep an eye on our socials and website for more details!

We the Curious is currently closed due to a fire. However, my 4 year old son and I noticed there was an activity on outside the museum. For completely free of charge my son spent 90 minutes building objects out of straws and connectors. The staff were all so engaging, kind and enthusiastic. Based on this lovely experience which I would like to say a big thank you for, we can't wait to visit when the museum re opens😃.

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review and pass on this feedback. For the last couple of weeks we've been piloting some activity out on the squares. We now know that we'll be closed for a few months rather than the few weeks we'd hoped, so we'll be continuing these activities at weekends and during May half term and popping up around the city. We can't wait to welcome you back once we're reopen!

We loved our visit here! Our children (aged 5 and 3) absolutely loved all the exhibits, as did their parents! There is so much to see and engage with and lots to learn - whether through experiential learning or reading the information signs next to exhibits. The children particularly enjoyed the food area and parachutes and my husband and I could have spent hours playing with the ‘magnetic sand’, making sculptures and a bridge! It didn’t feel too busy and everything was very clean. Toilets were well spaced and very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. My only slightly less positive experience was at the cafe where waited for a very long time to pay for two cans of drink - perhaps it’s worth considering a vending machine to help reduce queues?

We had a good time with our 3 year, i would say that the exhibits are aimed . However we feel that is was overpriced as it cost us £43 for 2x adults and a 3 year old and run out of things to do after 2 hours. It is obvious a kids museum aim at 6-9 year olds. Its a shame but it is not encouraging us back in a hurry at those prices.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Sorry that you felt it was overpriced - I'll be sure to report that back to the relevant people, as we really don't want that to be the case. Thanks, Rachel

We have been coming every now and then for about 8 years. My son is now 13 and I was worried he would be getting too old for it. But no he loved it still, which was great to see. Informative and interactive all round, definitely recommend a visit

Well this was fantastic. Lots of fun interactive science for kids of all ages which really kept you interest. Very well pitched so as not to dumb any thing down but easy to understand and absorb, We also went to the 3D planetarium which was a bit mind blowing, with much thanks to Alice for her brilliantly delivered narration, which made it all the better. We must go again

An absolutely brilliant place! I brought my 19 month old here today with family and even though she couldn’t do all of the activities, she had an absolute blast running around. Great that they have a little “soft play” section with building blocks too. A great visit and we’ll be back when both my girls are a little older.

A great visit with the grandchildren and family. Amazing hands on experience about all things life. Really loved the challenges and questions posed. Spinning discs and gravity ball runs were really appreciated. The animation studio set ups to make your own cartoon were AWESOME. Well done all round. Staff were enthusiastic and well briefed. GO AND GIVE IT A TRY👏😊

This was an amazing day trip. I went on my birthday for a day trip to Bristol and the surrounding area. It was an amazing day. We The Curious is incredibly interactive! Great for children of all ages! Staff were lovely and there was a very good seating area to eat your own picnic! Also, there was a café with an outdoor area for everyone to enjoy! All and all, a very good museum! 😀

Loads to see and do, very interactive, kids loved it (7 and 5 yrs old) and all educational.
Paid extra to see the 2D planetarium show, was worth it.
Watched the free fairytale SOS show, not so good! Was ok, but equipment not prepped properly so experiments didn’t always work.
Easy to get to, parking really close by, annoyingly had to scan tickets to get back into the main attraction area after going into the cafe, think they should provide stickers or wristbands for ease…??
Great day, was there for 4 hours ish.

Hi there. Thanks so much for visiting and for taking the time to leave a review. Great to hear that your kids had a great time and that you spent four hours with us! I know re-scanning tickets can be a bit frustrating, but this is the only way that we can safely and securely manage readmission (stickers and wrist bands often get lost). I'm not sure what happened with Fairytale SOS but I'll pass your feedback onto the team so we can improve things in the future. Thanks so much, Rachel

I used to work in Bristol and I bought a couple of bits of furniture from a shop by Montpellier railway bridge that always had mirrors beds chests etc placed outside. Is that shop still there and what is it called?
Thanks

I’m taking a 6 year old and nearly 5 year old... should we go to the 2d solar system Odyssey show for over 5’s? I’m guessing the show for under 5’s, space explorers, may be too young?

Hi, I have never been to the 2D show myself but children under 6 are not allowed to watch 3D shows.

Is 3hrs long enough to get around the museum on a Saturday with children?
Amber Rose
Bristol, UK25 contributions
It depends on what you would like to see at the Museum, if you go onto their website you can find a map of each section, however I believe that 3 hours would be long enough to see everything

Is there a cloakroom for leaving coats?

Yes but the line can be long at the end so I suggest getting your coats early.

Is it busy on a weekday during the school summer holidays?
We The Curious
Bristol
It can be, it's very dependent on the weather!
If you're looking for a quieter time, I would recommend afternoons after 2 or 3. There's still plenty of activities going on and planetarium shows throughout the day.
Hope this helps,
Ginny

Can an adult couple go who don't have children or is it only family oriented?
Lucy C
Bristol, UK499 contributions
Oh yes anyone can go, it’s very interesting and informative. There were several displays I would love to spend more time on that the children either didn’t see or just skipped straight past, bless them! When it was @Bristol we went many times without children with us. There’s a cafe at the entrance, and don’t take a heavy coat it’s warm inside. 👍🏻

Can you just pay to go the the cinema section?
We The Curious
Bristol
Hey there, As the Planetarium shows are within the venue itself you would have to get a ticket alongside full admission to the science centre. We do, however, run weekly Planetarium Nights shows for Ages 16+ where you can get tickets for the Planetarium only. All the details are on our website. Hope you enjoy your visit and let me know if you have any more questions! Nicky
