We were on the road in mid April, no signs on the main highway indicating the access to the lake is closed (unless we missed it). We drove half way and found out there was a gate blocking the road, I believe it was mainly due to road condition with the amount of snow last winter. More

A relative got a wedding in Waterton National Park. Stayed the park for 2 days and 1 night. Visited Cameron Lake in the morning. It was one of the park attractions. More

Waterton Lakes park is our favourite of the national parks in Alberta. It is a hidden gem and much more natural then many of the touristy parks like Banff. Cameron Lake has some great trails for hiking around it and you can rent canoe, kayaks and paddleboats in the summer. Four of us did paddleboat across the lake to the... More

Flat cross-country ski trail down a road to get to Cameron lake and not much to see when you get there. Nice and quiet though. More

Rent a canoe, and paddle out towards the far side of the lake. With or without snow on the mountains, the scenery is beautiful. Hiking the well-marked trails is another option. More

I clicked on family with teenagers, because it was the closest available. My adult son and I were driving to BC for him to start law school, and we spent a day at Waterton. The main town site and surrounding water and mountains were stunning, but couldn't compare to Cameron Lake. We stopped partway to take one of the hiking... More

After a quick breakfast at Waterton Bagel, we drove to nearby Cameron Lake. Despite the warning signs of neighboring bears, decided to take the short hike along the shoreline and we made noise whenever possible. Went as far as trail allowed with signs indicating we were soon encroaching on Grizzly bear habitat....funny, think bears know about borders?! After the hike,... More

I love going here to take photos of the wildlife (people included), the lake and the flora and the fauna. It is almost a guarantee that I see a bear or two along the parkway drive in to the lake. There are so many great hikes close to this lake and right from the lake. Best view of our neighbours... More
