Sometimes low visibility but a fun place that we visited several times.

We took a taxi ($1) from town out to the start of the trail. It would have been a 15-20 min walk and after hiking Sierra Negra, I was beat! What a fabulous little lagoon. During low tide (11am -ish) you can swim around the lagoon and walk up over the lava rock to a second small little area, get...

it's easy to walk to from town- 15 minutes, great snorkelling in the larger lagoon, with marine iguanas, sea lions, turtles, and penguins too. And it is FREE.

This calm bay is walking distance from anywhere in the Village. There are lots of beautiful fish and this is where you can swim with the turtles. We saw only one, but it was a highlight nevertheless, gorgeous, enormous and entirely unconcerned about us swimming beside it.

This place can be magical during the sunrise. Usually before 8am you can have the place to yourself. We visited here at high tide and we saw eagle rays (massive!), rays, turtle, octopus, sealions and lots of fish but not much else at low tide. It is still worth visiting here at low tide as we saw lots of crustaceans and fish which was interesting but if you are going here, check the tides first.

We were unfortunate enough to find ourselves on the island for 4 days during Mardi Gras / Carnival and nobody was interested in working, and we were not able to book any diving during this partying. So this was our day...

There is not much to see there but it's a quick walk through the mangrove. I could not find the rare mangrove finch although I looked for a while !

The thing we learned quickly is that it is a popular spot and when boats with day trippers arrived from Santa Cruz at around 9 am it gets crowded since their first stop is this place. Not a pleasant scene when it is crowded and of course visibility also suffers. I would recommend going very early, they open at 6...
