On our last day in the Netherlands we went to the Muiderslot. A totally different building than Huis Bergh, but this castle maybe even looks more like a vary tale castle!. This is nice with the big towers and entrance, the children could go in a lot of things, a lot of things to play with and touch and then... More

Even though the continued forecast was for rain, my daughter, her two girls and I set out from Amsterdam to see the castle a short train ride and a bus ride away. The RT train tickets from central station to Weesp were E6,50 ea. We were to then take the bus from Weesp to Muiden. There was a bus stop... More

This castle is a real treat inside and out. It's simply gorgeous from the outside, and you'll take a lot of pictures! There are two self-guided tours inside, though most of one is not available unless you sign up for a guided tour. We actually decided not to do the second route with the guided tour since the tour was... More

No one at the Amsterdam visitor center was able to give us directions to this castle - which is very close to Amsterdam. However, we managed to "muddle" through to get there. The easiest way to get there by public transportation is to take the Metro (subway) to Amstel, then take Connexxion bus # 320 from Amstel to the Muiden... More

My husband and I visited the castle on opening day of the summer season, and even so it was not crowded. I think as the weather warms up this will not be the case, so if you have younger children you might want to go early to avoid longer lines. The admission price also gives you access to a guided... This genuine mediaeval castle is one of the best I have seen. If you are a non-Dutch speaker it is not a problem as much of the explanatory text is also in English. In addition, there is an excellent app search for Muiderslot English version) for smart-phones you can download for free ahead of time which gives you a lot... More

Probably the oldest castle in Holland (12/13 th century) very lovingly restaured, work in progres on the outer forifications (moats and earthen walls surrounding the castle) Spectacular setting in het (fortified) city of Muiden on the mouth of the river Vecht and the IJsselmeer (former Zuiderzee) defending the backdoor of Amsterdam. Reconstructed medieval garden. Knights and falcons (and games) from... More

Here you can visit a really old castle which is beautifully restored. Lot of history like the escape of a duke in ten book box. More
