If you've never been whale watching, I highly highly recommend it!! There is something incredibly special about seeing your first humbpack. I went with That's Awesome and yes, it was awesome. I went on the first trip of the day. They go out early and are the quickest boat (I think) so you are there in the whale territory first.... More

Did this on the weekend by myself while I was up working in Hervey Bay. Went on the 2.30 dusk one with the "That's Awesome" tour operator. The Humpback whales are the ones you will find off the Hervey Bay coast. I went on board "That's Awesome" and despite its cliched name, it was indeed awesome! Priced around AUD100 per person, it was certainly worth it. To admire these glorious creatures up close was an experience like no other. Be sure to pop in non-drowsy motion sickness... More

Went there before the season officially started... but we were lucky to see 3 young whales. Recommended to call ahead and see if they have any whales in the bay before going (if in early to mid July). Its also quite cool out on the water in July/August so bring a windbreaker. Caught the Spirit of Hervey Bay, huge boat... More
