This is such a beautiful little place to see. For movie amateurs, the scene from "Catch Me If You Can" where Frank is finally arrested was partially filmed there. It is a gorgeous place, winter or summer.

Apart from the innumerable souvenir shop, Place Royale has very few things to be written about excepting the old styled french chateaus and the Museum which has a complete wall four storied high with a painting that will make you believe that this is really the side of the building.
Place Royale was fascinating--the buildings have all been rebuilt and are just gorgeous. You can visit a part of the Musee de Civilization right in the square (our favorite part of the Musee). There are restaurants, ice cream shops (one of which is where we had some of the most wonderful d'Erable ice cream ever!) and shops to look through....

I love museums that don't take forever to tour. This one is convenient and efficiently laid-out, so you get a good sense of old Quebec without sacrificing too much time or money.
Very cool to walk around in and see the Carnival decorations. Definitely smaller than it looks in Catch Me If You Can. The Church was closed, but I had no real need/desire to go in, so it wasn't a deal breaker. We went in the day and at night to see the square lit up. Easy to get to and...

North America's first settlement (lost Vikings aside....) and the cobblestone, church and boutiques are wonderful. It is still a very authentic little area. I love visiting, even in the dead of winter.
I was saddened that the church was closed , I would have loved to have seen inside. The mural is very well done, and is a must see when visting Quebec City. We walked around here in the day time and then again at night , very nice both times,
We were overwhelmed with the beautiful murals and the architecture and just loved discovering more of the unique features this "square". You MUST visit this landmark if you only have time for one sightseeing adventure. As beautiful in the summer and winter.
This is a church highlighted at night with strobe lights and loud music, we happened on this locale in our walk one night. The music gets your attention. My daughter and I walked into the church and inside it was very quiet, people mulled around and viewed the displays inside. No admission fee.
Place Royale offer a taste of france ! The old house are now converted into boutique, museum,, etc. The place is very cute and had been used for various movie production such has "Catch me if you can"
