Formal seaway build to avoid the Lachine rapids, abandoned for many years, this 10 miles long canal from the city of Lachine to the Old Montreal, was completely overhaul to offer the perfect secure way to ride a bike, canoe walk or run. Make sure you visit Atwater Markets and continue your journy to Old Montreal, Musée des sciences, Musée... More

March is cold in Montreal but if you need talk time with friends, the Lachine Canal is quite a good place to start. Unwind in the breeze, try to understand the urban sculptures and count your ducks. The place is even better if you have any number of attached wheels or dogs. If you succeed solving the sculpture part, write... More

This area is nothing special. It's a canal with some gentrified old buildings and some still 'old' old factories along it. Good for a bike ride. Then a stop at Atwater market which is beside the canal, where you can stock up on fresh veggies and fruits. More

A historic canal with parks on each side. A great place for walking and biking in the summer. Seasonal, of course. More

Stop in at the atwater market for lunch, ride your bike or blade on the path, rent a paddleboat, or just go for a leisurely stroll through the rejuvenated industrial area. Nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. More

This is an excellent choice of venue for someone who would like an afternoon or evening out without over-taxing. There is a bicycle path (step well away!), for those who like such things. Otherwise, this is a pleasant place to walk, and the Lachine Canal Fur Traders Museum is also worth a look. More
