If you want independent galleries, shops and restaurants and bars this is the area to go to. From Spadina west to Roncesvalles (Parkdale) is worth the walk as you can break it up by stopping at all sorts of interesting places. No chain stores or restaurants.

A funky shopping area, with lots of great bars and restaurants. In the summer, there are plenty of outdoor patios. Home to Canada's famous "Much Music" and "City TV" buildings (299 Queen St. W), as well as some of the northern clubs in the John/Richmond club district.
