My children grew up in Port Dalhousie and walking to the park and going on the nickel carousel rides was a part of their heritage. A ride and an ice cream cone spelled happiness to them and didn't cost a fortune. They had their favourite animals and even gave them names.

The carousel itself is beautiful, but the surrounding area is as well. You can spend the day at the beach with your family as it is steps away from the carousel. There are also restaurants and bars nearby. What a great way to spend a summer day!

For a mere nickel you can ride a restored and historically significant carousel. As you go around you can see Lake Ontario. It's worth a stroll to the beach and over to the pier. Get an ice cream and have a perfect day.

Ok so five cents or a quarter gets you a really cool family experience. Took some great pictures. On the beach...close to great places to eat. Good fun.
