Loved the Marche By! There was plenty of vendors around with all kinds of great food and flowers for sale. There also many specialty store with cheeses, fruits and pastries. We had coffee and pastries every afternoon while we were in town. There is an endless assortment of eateries to choose from and lots of performance artists to entertain you.

Great food, tons of restaurants, and within every budget. Lots of little kiosks, and some you can bargain in
This is a fun area of Ottawa, just to walk around, browse in stores and sample some foods in different restaurants. There are usually musicians playing on the street which adds to the open-air feel.
Byward market has something for everyone. Worth spending a day (or more) walking around. In the summer there are always great street performers and the patios open up, the market has a lot of great energy.

We visited the Byward market area a number of times on our most recent trip to Ottawa. We went into many shops and ate at several restaurants. Lots of choices for shopping and eating as well as people watching.
Great place to snoop around ...go to the bakery at the end ( Obama) has even been there and just people watch...it was great!
As markets go, this one is 7 days a week and if you are looking for fresh fruit and vegetables stop in. Restaurants abound in this area.
