Has it's fair share of tackiness (ie. Obama Obsession, cheap junky vendors, poor quality 'ethnic' foods. Also, kind of dirty... no attempts to make it more attractive with flowers, bushes, trees etc Wasn't impressed. More

Definitely take the time to hang out in the market area. Walk through the stinky cheese stores, the bakeries, and anything else. Everyone is so friendly in Ottawa, and you see this most in the market area. What a pleasant way to spend the day! More

ByWard Market is certainly more of a place to visit during the summer when more vendors are on the street. I can imagine how amazing it would be then so we'll certainly come back to experience Byward when it should be experienced....warmer months. :) More
