Visiting the Byward Market is on every tourists list. So many places to eat, fresh fruit and vegetables to purchase. Beautiful flowers, book stores, shopping. Restaurants hidden in courtyards. Besides walking around and taking pictures in front of the Parliament building you can always stop by the Byward Market. The market is open 7 days a week year round however, the outdoor vendors are only open during the summer months. We went the second last weekend of April, it was cold out and not too many vendors were set...

This is a wonderful place to shop. You meet people from all over the world. You can buy anything from clothng, food, antiques, jewellery, toys, souvenirs, art, music, etc. If you are a visitor to Ottawa, you should first take in Parliament Hill, and the Historic Rideau Canal. Then, take a short walk to the Market. Be warned, it's always...

Has it's fair share of tackiness (ie. Obama Obsession, cheap junky vendors, poor quality 'ethnic' foods. Also, kind of dirty... no attempts to make it more attractive with flowers, bushes, trees etc
Wasn't impressed.

Definitely take the time to hang out in the market area. Walk through the stinky cheese stores, the bakeries, and anything else. Everyone is so friendly in Ottawa, and you see this most in the market area. What a pleasant way to spend the day!

You can wander the market and find all kinds of things to see and do...wonderful galleries, clothing and jewellery stores, spas...it's all there and more. And when you get tired or thirsty, there are a huge number of bars and restaurants to choose from - everything from pub-style to fine dining and all points in between.

The market has lots to offer. I would come here for Beavertails and for the best burrito In town. It's better to come here during spring or summer when the weather is not too cold. Start early too because there are lots of stores and things too see. We make sure we visit this market every time we go to...

ByWard Market is certainly more of a place to visit during the summer when more vendors are on the street. I can imagine how amazing it would be then so we'll certainly come back to experience Byward when it should be experienced....warmer months. :)
