Living nearby, we've visited Sandbanks yearly for the day to use the beach or overnight to camp and it's a great spot! Some camp sites are better than others but the beach is always the same breathtaking experience. My husband and I were married at the mouth of the river in the middle of the winter, no bathing suit clad... More

We have been visiting Sandbanks for over 20 years, for all our children summer holidays weren't summer until our trip to the park. The park has such strong meanings to our family that our eldest daughter decided to hold her wedding there last August. Although she had wanted to actually get married on the beach this posed problems with where... More

We were 2 couples with small campers and a small punt boat looking for natures beauty and some inland fishing. Setup went well and we were nicely positioned under a beautiful tree canopy high above. The usual chipmunks appeared quickly, sounds of woodpeckers tapping away and discovering the flora. A couple Puff Balls along the goat trail we noticed quickly.We... More

Stayed at a property in the provincial park.... it was an old renovated stone house. Had 4 bedrooms all with their own ensuite. It is a short walk to the beach - and walk to your own dock where you can bring your own boat. Short driving distance to Picton for food, wine, and beer or if it rains something... More

Although the large expanses of fine sand beaches must be a great draw in the summer time, the provincial part is mostly deserted come October. Although the main (paid) parking lot on the north-west end is closed and barred, there is a small parking area just to the side where you can leave your car. The likelihood is that you... More

Visited at the end of September. We were the only ones in the park. It was fabulous. There are two hiking trails. The short one is an easy walk around the dunes. There was flora to see and many tracks of the animals in the park. No one at the beach. Did not get to hike the longer trail due... More

My partner and I have been camping for years in Canada and the USA. Our first (and probably last) trip to Sandbanks was completely disappointing. Where was the maintenance staff? Is the filth in the bathrooms, the lack of toilet paper, the broken doors on the stalls and non-functioning hand dryers in the ladies washroom due to cutbacks in staff?... More

We stayed again at Sandbanks Provincial park for 4 nights. We have been visiting/staying at Sandbanks for a few years and have noticed the facilities declining year after year. The park itself is amazing, we camp (in a trailer) quite a bit and Sandbanks was one trip we looked forward to every year. The beaches are amazing. The park facilities... More

I had read that the park was wonderful but one had to be cautious at the dune beach due to the sharp drop off. While there is a drop off, it was marked by buoys indicating that boats cannot enter the swimming area; it's also the spot where the drop off occurs, thereby, letting swimmers (and concerned parents) where it...
