The art gallery is a good place to spend some time, they often have wonderful exhibits. Their permanent collection is of local art is worth seeing, the Nova Scotia folk art exhibit is my favorite. Good but expensive gift shop and the same with their restaurant.

Always well laid out with perfect lighting. I always enjoy going there no matter what their current exhibit may be.

This is an outstanding museum in Halifax within easy walking of our hotel. There is no rush, no crowds and a very friendly staff. On this visit there was a special show of the Group of Seven and Emily Carr as well other Canadian painters in the 20th century.Special exhibits of the art of Robert Pope, Elizabeth Enders and the... This is a small, two building, art gallery showing Maritime artists. The folk art is interesting and there are several Group of Seven canvases. Allocate 2 hours max. The shop has many unique items from Maritime artisans. A pleasant way to spend a few hours, especially if it is raining.

Come here, not for Eurpoean art, but for the art of the maritimes, the wonderful folk art, the canadian paintings and the lovely sketch books, botanical watercolours and journals of the early settlers. Really a gem.

We especially enjoyed the Maude Lewis exhibit which included not only her art, but her home is part of the exhibit. She is a most fascinating artist to learn about

We found this museum to be extremely unique in it's content. They have a small collection of many works of art of the masters, but what really caught our appreciation were the current and recent works of artists representing many styles and media. it is truly worth a visit if you wish to see the unusual and talented expressions of... I am a local who just read the review by a lady who complained that there were not many artists at the Gallery she knew. Our Art Gallery of Nova Scotia has an extensive collection of local, regional and national works of Canadian art by Canadian artists. The range of this art is very eclectic in both form and content.... More

The gallery was very nice but we were disappointed there were not any painting by artists we knew. The revolving exhibits were nice and a fresh look at current art.
