We like visiting the Vancouver Art Gallery when we are in the city and an important part of such visits is a light lunch at the cafeteria. We are not from Vancouver but have visited the Art Gallery twice in the last 12 months and found both visits interesting. What we like is the mix of visiting the galleries and... More

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time in Vancouver. Yes, the Gallery Cafe patio is almost in full bloom - we need just a little more sunshine! I hope that you are able to return again over the next few months to catch the 'Matisse and Modern Masters' exhibition which opens this weekend, I had a sneak... More

So delighted you discovered the locally-loved Gallery Store - one of Vancouver's greatest treasures! Helpful hint: now you can purchase any of our Artist Editions online by visiting the Gallery's new Artist Editions microsite. More

The aboriginal hip hop exhibit was cool, and Canadian art from the 1960s was informative. it's the sort of exhibit you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. More

I was expecting more in a large city like Vancouver and for an admission fee of $20, but was very disappointed. The two special exhibits (on the 2 first floors) were interesting, but the pieces of artwork are few and far between. An entire floor was closed. I couldn't believe it when I got on the top floor and was... More

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate your feedback. As with many museums, the Vancouver Art Gallery must close galleries between exhibitions in order to coordinate the installation of new exhibitions. But this leaves three other floors of amazing art to explore...Our next series of exhibitions, including Collecting Matisse and Modern Masters: The Cone Sisters of Baltimore, opens in May... More

Not a comprehensive enough collection to warrant the exorbitant entrance fee especially when one compares it to European galleries. More

Exhibits are always great but that’s only a part of what's at the art gallery. They also have a lovely gift shop and beautiful café with outdoor sitting area. Food can’t be beat and reasonably priced too! More

Stopped in here on a wet day in Vancouver. It's decent enough to spend a few hours, but my overall experience was not particularly memorable. There are some decent pieces, but (and perhaps I should've noted this before I entered) it is all contemporary artwork, some of it a little too contemporary. Some interesting audio-visual pieces, but I have to... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review on the Vancouver Art Gallery. It has been a particularly rainy March here - perfect for exploring the local art galleries. Lovely modern art gallery offers four floors of contemporary and classical exhibits, revolving exhibits from international venues, hands on events, classes for adults and children. Housed in the former Vancouver courthouse with a classical design, the gallery is situated in downtown Vancouver, convenient to all rapid transit systems. More
