I love this small hike in Edworthy Park. You feel like you're out in the mountains. It's a great run too. I did it with my mom the other day and she did great and enjoyed it too.

This park has a great biking and walking trail. it helps Calgarians keep an active healthy lifestyle. It also has a nice picnic and playground areas.
Douglas fir trail is amazing. You will not believe that you are still in the city. Takes 2-3 hrs. not difficult with some ups and downs on forest paths. well worth the visit.
An overlooked gem of a place, especially the fantastic douglas fir trails. This area makes you forget you are in the city.

We used to live above the park and always enjoyed coming here. It was great to come back and do some geocaching here. The river is always a draw.
Nice scenery and relaxing place to stroll. Too bad for the very icy patches coming from springs in the river banks.
The Douglas Fir Trail is a little gem of a trail within the city limits along the pathway off edworthy park. We walk the pathway to downtown from Edworthy and take a hike up the Douglas Fir Trail to get into shape for those mountain hikes. Calgary has a great pathway system for walking.
Edworthy park has two main sections, a large off leash dog area on top and a picnic area down below along the river. The Douglas fir trail is a moderate walk along the side of the river bluff. It is easier to reach all areas from the south side of the river. Entering on the north requires parking your car...

Edworthy Park exists in a suburban area of Calgary edging the Bow River. This park offers quiet picknicing spots, access to the river (we started rafting from Edworthy Park several times) and playgrounds that children will love. Edworthy Park is not easily located which is part of it's charm.
It is a great place for a picnic. Unfortunately everyone thinks that way so it is crowded. It is close to the bike pathsystem. A great place to run, roller blade and mountain bike. More for the casual mountain biker.
