lake louise in banff national park was spectacular in its natural beauty. the majestic rockies towering over their closely guarded secret, lake louise, makes one feel as if one is about to experience an opera about to begin. The shimmering aquamarine water embibes the colour from the finely ground melted water of the glaciers that is carried down to it.... More

I was looking forward to seeing the lake I'd seen in a million pictures but was a little disappointed in person. It was just as beautiful, but the crowd took a lot away from it. Still worth a short stop, but I wouldn't stay long.

Spectacular Lake Louise is the namesake of the hamlet of Lake Louise just 5 km away. Its water gets its singular emerald to aquamarine colors from the finely ground rock bits that glacial melt water carries into it. The lake has a 0.8-km2 surface area at a 1,750 m surface elevation. On the lake’s eastern shore is the Fairmont Chateau... More

Lake Louise was still frozen over until mid June but still a beautiful scene. Snow covered mountains with the glacier can be seen in the background. Forest covered mountain bases are a wonderful sight. The Fairmont Lake Louise at base of the lake. As beautiful of the wonders of nature that you could ever experience. Makes you want to return... We visited Lake Louise after a day skiing at nearby Lake Louise skifield. It was lightly snowing and the frozen lake was spectacular - we went for a walk along the "sleigh path" around the lake past the Fairmont Hotel and it was just so pretty. You can also walk out onto the frozen lake or do snow-shoeing if you... More

From Fairmont Hotel on Lake Louise we did a side trip to magnificent Moraine Lake. I came to realize that the the Lake and its surrounding mountains are famous, in that the image of the valley of ten Peaks and the surrounding lake appeared on the back of older versions of the Canadian $20 bill. We found ourselves spending a... More

Of all the great places we've traveled in our lifetimes, enjoying Lake Louise always remains right at the top! We have been a number of times. Our favorite time was in May when the Lake had unfrozen. It is simply spectacular. We have trekked any number of times up to the tea room that lies many meters above the Lake... More

A late arrival and therefore almost no one there, which was good for taking pictures. Overall a good fast visit.
