The campground was great aside from one rattlesnake siting. There is a great group site and the day use area is huge with lots of places for a campfire and a playground. I visited Writing on Stone while visiting family. There were 9 of us in total, ranging in ages from 9 to 56, and we all had a great time, so I think it's great for all ages. It was a looooooooooooong drive out in the middle of nowhere and unfortunately we missed out on the guided tours - I think...
