Trekked up through deep snow to the summit, to gaze down upon frozen Peyto lake. Got accosted by a lone bird (grouse?) whether he gets fed a lot in the summer, or just very hungry, we weren't sure - he seemed to think bootlaces might be worms!! This was a really nice little stop. from main car park there is a little walk to the viewing platform but if it is quiet you can park right up the top in the disabled car park and then it is only a few metres to the platform. Wonderful views all around you see mountains lake and glacier. Well worth... More

“Steep hike worth it for the view”

From the parking lot off of the Icefield Parkway, we climbed the steep path to the overlook down to Peyto Lake, a beautiful turquoise color.
