This was free for travelers on the ships, but your time is limited by the time the ship is in dock, not very long. It was an interesting chance to see the original Finnmarken as we were traveling on the new Finnmarken. There's a lot for someone interested in old ships and artifacts from them and how people traveled and... More

I liked the museum which gave interesting details about Hurtigruten, the beginning, the struggles etc. Great: we could visit the old Finnmark ( cabins etc.) on dry dock . The only disadvantage: I should have liked to have more time. Go and see yourself - you will not be disappointed! More

Now my third visit to this museum whilst on the Coastal Steamer. Free for Hurigruten passengers the museum is housed in the same complex as a hotel and cinema. For me the highlight is visiting the MS Finnmarken which is a former coastal steamer now part of the museum. I am sure those with a seafaring interest could spend many... More

Loved seeing photos and artifacts of past ships. You must tour the retired Hurtigruten ship on site. A bit creepy and you are more grateful for the comfort of todays fleet More

This museum is a maritime museum, made by the Norweigan shipping and postal line Hurtigruten. If you want history they have lots of details (Norweigan and English), photos, original artefacts, models of boats, a ship's bridge which you can stand on and see waves (on film) outside, and information about how the boats were either taken over or sunk in... Arriving on the Hurtigruten Ship gives you a very good chance of finding the Hurtigruten Museam open. I found it interesting and could have spent a bit more time there. The down side of arriving on the ship is so does everybody else so you never get any place to yourself. More

As part of the Hurtigruten (Coastal Voyage) cruise from Bergen to Kirkenes and back to Bergen, this museum is one of the attractions that is free for passengers. We found it very informative and fascinating although we would have liked to have more time there. The most amazing thing was walking through one of the original ships which has been... More

The museum is free for those travelling on a Hurtigruten Coastal Steamer. The centre provides great insight into the history of the successful steamer service operating today More
