We love La Gruta because it is an easy destination with non-swimming kids. Decent restaurant and libations a plenty, you will not be disappointed. Just try to visit on a weekday or there won't be lounge chairs for you!

I enjoyed the hot springs with my husband and another couple we were traveling with. The brutal was our first experience on a hot spring cave and it was great. There were two pools and one was quieter than the other with several families with children. Met nice travelers there from the States and the owner of Leisurely Horseback Riding...

Pools are filled with fresh water daily. There are always 3 of them filled and they range in temperature from warm to a little warmer to hot inside the "Gruta" or cave. There are great cafes where one can have a delicious breakfast or lunch for around 50 pesos (or right now about $4.50) Friendly waiters (who can help you...

Not the first time we have been there, but this time i brought my new cam to show you how nice it is. Not really a Spa like it is called, because they just have the hot springs and massage, but worth a visit. Here you can see the film I took last week in la gruta: http://youtu.be/BdG0HdnkB8Q

The mineral water comes up through the earth and into a beautiful grotto with a tunnel leading to the...

Not as rustic as I had imagined, but still it was clean and well maintained. Try to visit on a weekday, as it can be a little crowded on weekends.
On a Monday we took a taxi from San Miquel to La Gruta for 130 pesos and had the taxi return five hours later to take us back for 130 pesos, which it did exactly on time. It was 90 pesos each to enter. No food or drink is allowed in. We had a wonderful breakfast when we arrived: an...

On the recommendation of a local I went with my older family members and although we were the oldest family there and non-Spanish speaking we felt perfectly comfortable. The hottest pool and the tunnel that leads to the cave are off to the side in the back and not apparent at first. Ask if you can't find the tunnel. We...

This is a cozy restaurant with excellent atmosphere. The service is fast, attentive and very friendly. The pizza menu is large and they looked wonderful. Our pasta was very flavorful with good size portions. The drinks menu is good. Prices are reasonable given this is a hugely popular family run restaurant. After our meal, the owners (he is the chef)...

Great margaritas, lush gardens and cristalline hot spring pools. Be sure to go to the cave and wait in line for the "chorro' or hot water spout.
