This was an interesting stop. Once through the entrance, a local woman with her little boy sitting at a card table asked for 20 pesos per person. At first we thought she was selling something, but realized she was charging admission. We strolled along, with a dog at our feet leading the way. The grounds were unkempt and there isn’t... More

Nice to stroll around and feel the atmosphere from earlier. Sad love story, the guy building the hacienda from the island. But before it was finished she married another man from the island. What a bummer.. They could done more around the entrance and the huts. But to stroll into the park and see the old stuff was nice. Many... More

They have done some upgrades since our first visit. It's an interesting part of the island's history. I would like to see more information than what is posted and a better English translation. More

Visited this house twice in two years, still creeped out by the history of the place. More

Much history is to be learned through real experience, excellent re-creation, and beautiful grounds. Very economical, self-guided, learn or just see at your own pace :) More

From the entrance, we didn't really know what to expect. Very nice entrance. Inside was interesting and we cut our visit short because it was so hot and buggy. It is probably best visited during the winter months. It's a interesting place for adults interested in history. It isn't much for younger children. More

I know, it isn't the same as it was a few years ago, and I do miss the animals...but, I also like the green space and the peace that the place gives to the island that is becoming so full of concrete. I love to wander around and look at the flowers, birds, and lizards. It is just seems so... More

The grounds look like they were quite lovely at one time perhaps even a zoo. Empty cages now but the grounds still seems romantic. More

The pirate Fermín Antonio Mundaca de Marecheaga was born October 11th,1825 in the village Bermeo of Santa Maria, Spain. He at one time owned 40% of Isla Mujeres. The interesting remains of his estate can be visited for just 20 pesos per person. Well worth the visit - but be sure to use insect repellent! More
