old nations have great intention to build pyramids (Egyptians, Incas, Zapotecas, and many more), but its aim was different. By my opinion all of them help to rulers control local people, Very interesting place one of seven new wonders of the world. For me it was last. More

We spent a few hours here. We didn't hire any of the self promoting tour guides but instead eavesdropped as we followed a tour group around the grounds. It was really hot and climbing the pyramid was nerve racking (be sure to hold the chain going up and coming down) but worth it. We read about the pyramid before we... More

It is also known as El Castillo (The Castle) . Located in the center of an open court stands the 99 feet high. Each of Kukulcan Pyramid's four sides has 91 steps. Inside the pyramid are located the famous Chac Mool sculpture adn the Jaguar Throne. More

Spent from 12 noon to 3 pm at the site. It is incredibly HOT! We are from Puerto Rico, but this place is way hotter! Make sure to bring hats, water and an umbrella may be a good idea to provide some shade. The pyramid and site are very impresive and well maintained. The vendors are part of the fun.... More

Chichen Itza is a must when you visit Yucatan but... I was more impressed by the Coba-ruins. We hired a car to get there from Playa del Carmen. Took the 180D and payed toll (around 10 euro)-this highway was empty and it's easy to get there. Don't forget to bring pesos in cash: no dollars, euro - no visa/mastercard. You... More

We started off around 11am from Cancun and reached there when the heat was its peak. I would advise you to reach there early, like around 8am or 9am so that you have morning coolness and no one getting in your pictures. Take lots of water with you and lots of mexican pesos. Mexican pesos for Entry Ticket (177 MX... More

My husband and I hired a wonderful Taxi driver (Jesús) to drive us to Chichen Itza and then Ek Balam. He picked us up at our hotel in Playa del Carmen at 5:30 in the morning and we got to Chichen Itza right at 8AM - Right when it opens. It was wonderful!! We had the whole place to ourselves... More

Starting in Mexico City I traveled by the modern ADO buses to Puebla, Oaxaca, San Cristobal del las Casas, Palenque and was able to come to Chichen Itza in 2 hours from Merida. This meant I arrived at 8:30AM which was when it opened and could store my backpack. Had a very good guide, no crowds and partly cloudy skies... More

We really enjoyed our visit to see the Mexican Pyramid, we had a wonderful tour guide who made the whole experience interesting. While we were there part ot the site was closed off due to repairs. We were shown the ball court, where you could imagine the game. And the actual Pyramid was truly a wonder of the world. Don't... More

To just visit the Pyramid without the history and the background of it's size and dimensions is to not fully receive its value. There is a reason for each block and space in the building of this astrological center piece. Get a guide who can give you the reasons for its build. More
