One of the great things about the Mayan ruins in this part of the Yucatan is that you are often the only tourists there. This was practically the case at Becan. Really nice ruins and lots of pyramids you can climb on (my favorite thing to do at Mayan sites). Nice views from the top of the pyramids. More

Surrounded by a ditch and accessible only by the original causeways, Becan is not far off the highway, and has a feel all its own, like all of the classical Maya cities. Not nearly as massive or remote as Calakmul, Becan is still pleasantly un-crowded and home to a dense array of monumental architecture. A tour guide will help you... More

I've visited this ruin 2 times in the past and to me, it's more beautiful than the others in the area. The architecture at the site is incredible and some of the structures are massive as well. Don't expect many tourists to be there when you visit. More

Becan was the second set of ruins that we visited and I was very impressed by the change from Tulum.
