Took a collectivo there on a Sunday, and would recommend going after 1 if you go then and want to visit the workshops where the gaily painted carvings are produced. People are welcoming and the small town looks up to Monte Alban in the distance. More

Alejibres are brightly-colored sculptures of fantastical animal-like creatures.Typically carved from the Copal tree , the wooden figures depict mythical creations and monsters.
