As I always stay in the Centro Historico, I am very fond of all that one can find to do and see in this one section of town. Mexico City had a university before the Pilgrims arrived at Plymouth Rock! It also had a pawn shop, the oldest in North or South America. This place has history! You can see the Templo Mayor, the Presidential Palace, The National Cathedral and the famous pawn shop. Some friends bought a $2000 dollar diamond ring there and it was valued at... More

Why go anywhere else? If you are in the mood to see museums, cathedrals, the main plaza, hear mariachi, drink tequila, and see the historic city there is no need to go anywhere else. More

This WAS the real and only downtown of Mexico City - long ago. Big business has long left, but the mix of very popular, mediocre quality shops, street vendors, government, and grand old buildings that witness the past, is quite unique, and every street block has more than enough for eyes and ears to devour. During the day, at least.... More

I just returned from GDL (10/14-10/29) and I loved every minute of the trip. I stayed at Hotel Morales (great location, architecture and wood floors) in Centro Historico area. I ate birria at Las 9 Esquinas , tortas at Torta Loca in Mercado Libertad, carne en su jugo at Garabaldi, ice cream (12 pesos) corner of Juan Manuel & Calle... More
