Take the funicular up in late afternoon, have a drink admiring the sunset over this most beautiful city, and then meander down the little cobblestone streets, stopping at La Casa de los Besos.

Visible from the Leon, Guanajuato airport, this shrine is one of the top three pilgramage sites in Mexico. It is quite the drive and experience just to get there but can be an emotional visit for the faithful, and an excellent view and experience for the tourist. Check out the small museum on the west side where it show the... More

Cool location, but a long drive. Impressive, but doesn't compare to the size of the Christo in Rio de Janeiro. Many beggars on the way up, so bring change!

The road is paved, and is not as close as it seems. There is no much to do there if you are not going to the service.

Quite a trip to get up there but on a clear day you can see all the way to Leon, Silao, Guanajuato, etc. Worth the effort to get there.

Long, bumpy road but with the trip. Taxi driver stated most people come in the hundreds of thousand during Christmas and other "Christian" holidays. The view is awesome!

It is a bit of a drive up there, but amazing views. I drove up there in my own car,so I am not sure how much it costs with a taxi. If you are staying Guanajuato at least a week, then you should visit.

The short ride from Guanajuato to this pilgrimage site puts you smack dab in the geographic (so it is said) center of Mexico over 8,000 feet above sea level. (Bring a jacket - it is cold and windy that high up). The views are awe-inspiring. One of those few moments in your life when you will be speechless by what... More
