A gorgeous pedestrian street that has everything: small traditional shops, beautiful upscale shops that sell jewellery, antiques and fabulous household items, a nice pottery museums, cafes and restaurants, and ends up in the center of town. The beauty of Tlaquepaque is that it is no Disneyland ... people live and work in this beautiful town. Favourite stops are: Adobe (a... More

This pedestrian street is a visual delight, and it's packed with restaurants, shops, and galleries, ranging from colorful souvenir stands to the high-end gallery of artist/sculptor Sergio Bustamante. Stop in to see the Ceramic Museum (free). When guests come to visit us in Mexico, they always enjoy a stroll along Calle Independencia. More

Nice and quiet stroll on this pedestrian street. Many art boutiques. Just for this a good reason to get out of the center of Guadalajara. Bus 275 or 647 from GDL Centro is only 15-20 minutes. More

Good stores, art and antique galleries and restaurants. Probably the most "Mexican" part of Guadalajara. Real San Pedro restaurant and Casa Fuerte are my two favorite restaurants. The stores change frequently. More

Over ten plus years of visiting Mexico and Tlaquepaque is a must for a day of shopping. Most of the shops are located in old haciendas and are a cultural tour in themselves. As a previous poster stated, Calle Independencia is pedestrian only but one has to pay attention when crossing the cross streets. More

If you are going to Tlaquepaque, Calle Independencia is probably the most fun to shop at - as it is closed off to traffic! The stores are the most upscale in Tlaquepaque - lots of designers and custom made stores. The best restaurants are also located along this street. There is another street, that is parallel to Independencia - the... More
