Love the Malecon; worth the walk, and love the haggling. Start at about 1/2 what they say and work up....The prices go up on Thursdays, because cruises come in.

More fun to stay in old Vallarta than in the high priced areas of PV. Small restaurants and tacos stands, fruit vendors, juice vendors, fruit turnover sales man, small bakeries and shops galore.

"The wonderful part of Vallarta that is given the namd Old Vallarta is and always has been my favorite part of my Vallarta. I advise all of my friends to stay in Old Vallarata and "visit" the rest of the Bay area. Also, it dosen't hurt to read "My Memories of Vallarta" by one of its earliest residents.
There are many shops and cafes to visit in the part of PV. Less craziness from tourists, lots of local flavor. We love to walk the streets here.
Great to see during the day and night! Go explore during the daytime on the night time. What an adventure, but beware to wander off the brightly-lighted tourist areas!!
Old Vallarta makes you realize that the some of the local people do struggle. I do mind the shops and sales promoters. It would bother me more if their was constant begging. Saw very little begging.
Walking around old town is a real treat, visiting all the little local shops and restaurants is amazing. The people are really nice and its really safe to walk the streets. We wouldn't stay in any other area we love OLD TOWN . . 2 Thumbs UP !!
