All the surroundings are full of poor people. Lack of maintenance. Dirty, a lot of poor stores.

This is a nice plaza, with a few cafes and shops where the locals gather. At the far end is a lovely cathedral. There is also a market where you can purchase handicrafts.

After 11 years of visiting Acapulco we finally went to the Zocalo.
Had an excellent meal at the Italian restaurant and were entertained along the walk throughout the area later. No hassles and lots to see, shop , and do.

The best day to visit is Sunday, that is family day, and man vendors ar out selling. If you want it quieter, go any other time. It is a must see. I go every year.
