The road/driveway to enter the grounds is closed, so we had to park off the street and walk up the driveway. Our tour of the house was nice, the house is spectacular! But our guide admitted that the grounds were not in the best condition. A trail on the grounds was overgrown, so we were only able to walk around...

Don't be deterred by the entrance that appears to be closed off. The bridge was damaged in a storm in early 2011, and is still unsafe for cars....but the old house is only a couple hundred meters across.
The house has many original items from the extended Lawetz family who first came to St. Croix in the 1870's, and still...
