We took a walk in the forest / birdwatching early one morning with Fitzroy Quamina. We drove to Castara and met friends there (they were collected in Castara by Fitzroy). Wow, what a beautiful trail - the Gilpin Trace it was called. Start as early as possible when you'll see more birds and there will be less heat. We left... More

An essentail part of any trip to Tobago. Errol Roach was just the best guide, located in Castara. You will never see so many beautiful birds and wildlife but take a guide first. Good easy walking trails are kept in inaculate condition.

This is a small little forest hike in one of the oldest surviving forests in the Caribbean. The hike is low in difficulty. The rangers will provide you with boots.

Im not a bird watcher but I'd recommend this excursion for all including hard core twitchers! Give Harris McDonald of Harris Jungle Tours a call and you won't regret it. This guy knows his birds, plants and the trails like the back of his hand. His easy style copes with different client groups - and he makes a good breakfast... More

Junior (Thomas) made our trip to Tobago sooo amazing! We spent all day with him exploring the island and its beautiful rain forest. Without a guide we would have never been able to see as much as we did. The Tobago rain forest is definitely worth visiting if you love birds and nature and I don't know if anyone can... More

Although we were there in the dry season, it had rained heavily the night before our visit, so the birds were a bit shy that day. But our wonderful guide 'King David' was brilliant, helping to bring alive the secrets of the plants and animals. We stopped en route to hook up with a friend of his who for 5... More

It's something you feel you have to do whilst in Tobago, and our guide was excellent. It remains something special, having been preserved for over two hundred years. However, apart from a muddy, quite tricky walk spotting some rare birds there is little animal life to observe as they are virtually all nocturnal. So don't go expecting to see armadillos... More

The forest reserve is great, more so if you are an avid bird watcher. I'm not, but I'm almost converted! The trails aren't long, we did the spring trail, but are such a change from the hot sun and beach that you find 10km down the road. We had a guide, which was useful as it helped us identify different... More

We had a wonderful forest tour with Junior Thomas following the Gilpin Trace in the Tobago Reserve. This is a hidden gem of a location and you really need a guide to help you spot the many attractions that are here. It's a gentle walk. Whilst we are not fanatical birdwatchers it should appeal to anyone with a love and... More

Get Kenton from Coco Reef hotel bird scaring service (with his hawks) to take you to the rain forest and show you his raptor rescue centre. (About £90 for two - he picks you up at 6am (ouch) and gives you breakfast and a wonderful commentry on the island as well as showing you 30-40 birds)
