I love this place! We went on a Wednesday evening & was informed by one of the guys working the door that Wednesdays are cover-free. We got in a bit early while the band was still setting up, but once they got started playing, the room was instantly full of people dancing. I guess the best way for me to... More

We went to Nuyorican after dinner. It was around 9:30 pm when we entered, which was pretty early so there were very few people inside. The group on stage was playing some kind of pop music with a few salsa rhythms here and there. It was very very loud and the sound quality was very poor. However, our biggest problem... More

Was recently in San Juan for a bachelor party with a group of guys in 20's. Got there on Thursday night and decided to go out to see what OSJ had to offer. Went bar hopping on San Sebastian and Forteleza as recommended by multiple websites but nothing was really that great. A few hours/bars later we found this gem... More

as a lover of old school salsa, this is a must do....costs $5 to get in..the live band playing and a few good dancers...the decor reminds of the old bars. the bartender is very friendly and may even dance with you..drinks are very reasonable....you can sit outside in between sets and see local Puerto Ricans go by....love it.. My family wanted to see some authentic salsa dancing and we found this club in our guidebook. We paid a $5 cover and got there around 10:30 PM and nothing much was happening - we thought we had struck out (but were able to get a table - which we definitely would not have been able to do if we... What I loved about this bar: it was filled with locals, and yet it didn't feel "sketchy" like some of the places my friend and I glanced into before entering here. We arrived at around 11pm on a Friday night, and didn't leave until 2:30am or so. When we got there, the dance floor was nearly empty and a live... More

Had an authentic feel, but almost too dive bar-like. It was filled with mostly locals and we were given a few 'fish-out-of-water' looks. Great music, too! More

I went to this place on a Thursday evening with about 10 colleagues / friends. It is in an alley off the main road. Great live music and Salsa dancing. The drink prices were very reasonable compared with the hotel bar. Cover charge was $5 if I remember correctly. Try the Mango Mojito without sugar (why without sugar I couldn't... More

I wasn't a fan of San Juan, nor of Puerto Rico in general. The Nuyorican, however, was a real bright spot for me. It is a small, simple place with great music. It is friendly and not at pretentious. We went three nights in a row, and would have gone again the next night if we had stayed longer. Give... More
