Fantastic stroll. Go on Sunday. Lots of families and vendors. Great fountain at the end as a payoff.
It's a beautiful part of Old San Juan, worth of visiting and taking several pictures. I recommend going there very early in the morning or just before sunset, when the sun is not that strong.
Lots of vendors, lots of locals enjoying the food and the music. it is very hot along the wall in full sun but is worth it for the photo opportunities. Lovely stroll heading west towards the "Raices" fountain. There are a few venders, but not too cluttered with them. Tree lined promenade for a lovely stroll..but don't quit at the fountain, keepwalking around the wall. Fantastic at sunset!
We were fortunate enough to have time to take a walk here in the early evening and in the morning. Both were great, not too hot or too crowded. This walkway lights up at night giving a spectacular effect. It is of course free because you only need to head toward the ocean at sunset and wait for the lights to come on.
