on my trip to the Dominican republic, I made a stop to the botanical gardens, every country have their garden but I was overwhelmed by the size of this one, after two hours of walking and stopping to admire the scenery, my guide said that I did not even cover half of the gardens, within this garden there is a... I liked to Japanese garden especially. We took the train ride and looked a little at the boring museum and dirty water plants. Nothing special there. The bathroom was filthy.

This is an oasis of calm on the edge of Santo Domingo. The tourist train takes you around in a circle, stopping only once at the Japanese gardens, or you can walk. Save the ticket stubs you're given when you enter- you need them to get on the train and enter the small museum. It cost 175 pesos or 5... More

Very nice and very green, with lots of palm trees and other trees. Japanese Garden is fantastic, but orchid garden is not so great, and you have to pay additionally to visit it. Train is good, but they have to do something with the exhaust, because it is going in your face when you driving with it.

I found the botanical garden a pleasant getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is relatively well kept, has lots of lovely birds and gardens with tropical flowers and trees. It is large enough to spend a few hours strolling.

We spent nearly four hours here. A gorgeous park full of thousands of different kinds of flora from around the world. The entrance price includes a train trip around the park which stops at the Japanese Garden, beautiful. Take the time to visit the orchid gardens and the nursery.

Most attractions in Santo Domingo are not maintained and should be avoided - Jardin Botanico is an exception. Very good looking landscapes and plants everywhere. Take the train if you want a quick pass thru the garden. If you want to really take everything in and learn, walk and bring a camera along. Beware - They try to make foreigners... More

This Botanical is a mix of all the things you can see in the tropics. It even has a japanese garden. Is very well kept. There are individual exhibits of different ecosystem found in the island and also you can take a tour or walk through the campus. Bring water....is a huge place.

Some of this park looks a little tired but the Japanese Garden inside is worth the trip. The little train gets you around more quickly than walking, but with the belching diesel fumes, walking is quieter and healthier.
