Toured with my fiance, his mother and our 2 school aged daughters. We took the tour with a guide in English and his mother opted for the audio tour in Spanish, the guide knew and spoke English well enough to provide the tour and ask us questions. The tour was probably under one hour but quite enjoyable. No flash photo... More

Entering the Alcazar you need to watch your head, these guys were not tall, and the width only makes me wonder how they got all that furniture inside. This is the oldest Viceregal residence in America, finished in 1512. The building is intact, same for the furniture, art and personal items. Nearby Atarazanas street is across the plaza, and has... This house was nice. It had lots of pieces of furniture from when Diego Columbus lived there. It is in good shape and you get a audio headset to punch in the number of the area in the house and it tells you about it. Reasonably priced. More

Definitely a must see! The restoration of this building, and the workmanship of the artifacts and furniture are remarkable. I just wish I could remember half of what our tour guide told us. So many interesting facts. I wish they had a printout. I would have been better able to share some of these facts when showing the pictures that... More

The history of the grandiose events of the Western civilization looks at you as you walk through this treasure house of the Americas! Unforgettable and overwhelming feeling! This place, along with the Museum of the Casas Reales is an absolute must while visiting Dominican Republic. Don't be shy and pick up a recorded tour device at the entrance: they are... More
