Even though we only spent one day in Dominica (as one the port calls on a cruise), it was our favorite spot. All other islands have been developed incredibly for tourism, but this one still maintains a more rustic and island feel to it. We did a tour to Middleham falls organized by the cruise and it was a great... More

This was a really great hike. A good mix of scenery and hiking challenge. Most of the hike is a well groomed trail. There are a few sections of rock scrambling, so I would not recommend flip flops, though sandals would be ok if they fit well. Your shoes will probably get wet, so keep that in mind. The falls... We hired a tour guide, Alfred for our hike and were glad we did. Not only was he a great plant and general information guide but was great with our kids. The hike is at times pretty strenuous and if you take your time on the way down to the falls, you'll make it. We are relatively active people but... More

We took a guided tour on this hike to take us to the falls. The trail is well marked and maintained. I think it was harder to find the trailhead then to follow the trail. As long as you are in respectable shape and have a good pair of sneakers (hiking boots would have been nice but not necessary) you... More

Overall, this was a great excursion but make sure you're in good physical condition before trying this. The trail is very rugged (tree roots and slippery rocks) and is quite steep. Once you get to the top you will come to a magnificent waterfall (the most beautiful I have ever seen). Our tour guide dove 40 feet from the rocks... More

I read about Paul Crask on TripAdvisor, and also saw that he is the author of a new guidebook about Dominica and all its hiking trails. Paul is a British ex-pat who has been visiting Dominica for over a dozen years, and has resided there full-time for the last several years. We asked him to guide us to Middleham Falls.... More

This hike was awesome. Our guide "Alvin" was the best guide ever; patient with all hikers and very proud of his home and willing to share it with us. Alvin and his friend did a tremendous amount of work to make it possible for us to see the beauty of the rainforest and the falls he is so proud of.... More

Middleham falls hike was the most adventurous, exciting challenges I?ve taken. It is more enjoyable if you are a person who is conditioned to moderate exercise. The hike through the rainforest is sensational. Climbing steps cut into the hillside, walking on tree roots, and most intriguing, following single file through a narrow, steep path leading to the spectacular waterfalls. It... More

These falls can be reached by two trails. The easiest in terms of driving to the start point, is by taking the Laudat road and then turing of down a newly surfaced track to the visitors centre (the other approach is from the village of Cockrane to the north). The actual hike is a delightful one-hour walk in the rainforest.... More
