We decided to go to Havana while the great Casto is still around, and before the American tourists flood this beautiful island nation. A wonderful experience, and on the first day of our 2 week stay in this city, we hit Havana Vieja. What a wonderful sight to behold. I was in the Eastern Bloc in the 1970s, and in... More

The Old Havana is one of mystery and magic, it transforms you for latter years and you cant help wish you there to experience it in its hey day. Great to wander and explore.

The old city center is currently being renovated, without ugly modernization. The cubans realize that it is more profitable to keep the prietty houses downtown and build more modern things in the suburbs. Many museums, restaurants, historic places, etc. Only drawbacks: Hard to find Internet access.

The packed four days-on-the-ground allowed us to see Cuba more deeply than we could have done on our own. Example: a visit to a... More

This is the partially refurbished historic center of Havana and must be seen. In fact, next time I would opt to stay in old Havana which is becoming quite hopping with music and bars. The more residential streets can be in great disrepair but gives a sense of the age and history.

Very interesting to walk around on your own, one sees parts of the city that tourist guides do NOT take to.
