If you want to see what a naval fort really looked like 200 years ago and have a bit of an imagination this is a great place. It's virtually untouched since it was abandoned, and has been subject to the whims of nature for 150 years, but the important stuff remains. A car or cab can get you near, or... More

A crumbling wall and roofless house with a few cannons. Nice view, though, of the ocean where they used to shoot at ships that didn't pay their toll.

Fort James goes back a few hundred years and, unfortunately, like many places in Antigua, it hasn't received the attention it deserves. Great views of the Caribbean.

There have been a few internal problems, not least the death of Russell himself. Having said that, the family members that remain in charge are doing a great job, so go and give them your support. Great food, despite previous Tripadvisor reports, which I can't understand. They are closed Sunday and Tuesday, but we've all got to have a couple... More

Close to St Johns, easily accessible, facilities and a beach bar, next to the sandy beach with warm Caribbean sea.

I have been to the fort a few times but my favorite was when I went on horseback. It is such a pretty setting and not too far away form the beach so it was a very pleasant ride. We actually did it on a whim. We were splashing around at the beach and saw a few people on horseback... More

Great historical site. 18th & 19th century structures, cannon. But in real disrepair. Near some nice beaches.

It's a bit of a trip from St Johns (we walked it!), but it is one of the most untouched historical sites we've found. The cannons remain just as they were when the British army ceased to worry about defending Antigua - and there has been no attempt to tamper with the historic buildings. It's a rare opportunity to visit... More

We explored Fort James whilst on the segway tour. A nice little bit of Antigua's history with a lot of the fort still intact. A few cannons still left there with lovely views out over the Caribbean Sea

Although its quite a long drive round to here, and a little uneven give it a try. The fort is out on the peninsula with great views, some cannon left, and great photo opportunities. The restaurant there has a good menu and the owner was very helpful and interesting. They are in the process of creating lodging rooms and doing... More
