Me and my husband went here for the day. We were there for just a day on the cruise ship. We have been to Antigua before and didn't know about this little piece of heaven. Everywhere I have been to Antigua has the best beaches and runaway bay is the best!! More

We have been to this beach many times and absolutely love it. Cheap/easy ride from the pier. Friendly staff at beach. Excellent rum punches and cute bar. They have chairs/umbrella for rental. $5.00 for 2 chairs and umbrella. Taxi fare is $10.00 from pier. Highly recommend this Beach. (quiet/relaxing). If you are on a cruise, do not book through the... We sailed with Celebrity and asked one of the crew where the best beach was. They recommended this, and we have no worries about doing also. 15 min taxi, I think $10 each passenger, a few $'s for a sunbed and 5 glorious hours of very few people and gorgeous Antigua weather. Probably as near to paradise as you can... More

My husband and I were on a tight budget during a recent cruise and on the recommendation of a very knowledgeable taxi driver we encountered outside of the port, we spent a few hours on Runaway Beach. The taxi ride was cheap and short, and we rode through what the taxi driver described as the "ghetto." Some folks may be... More

For several months, I lived between Dickenson Bay and Runaway Beach and the two beaches are completely different. If you like crowds, a few restaurants, and people selling beach items, go to Dickinson. It can be fun as long as a cruise ship hasn't just dumped a load of people on the beach. But if you like a long and... More

We took a taxi, 10 dollars for up to 4 people from the pier. He dropped us off at Sandhaven Beach and Bar. We were the only ones there. The beach is at least a mile long, pure white sand. A lady was selling tee shirts and sun dresses but never approached us. A short way down the beach you... More

We arrived in Antigua on a cruise ship and skipped the cruise line pricey excursions and just took a taxi to the nearest beach. 5 minutes later we were presented with a little paradise. The beach is a horseshoe shape with white surgar sand and a lovely and calm sea. And it is not crowded. You can rent beach lounge... More

I did my research before our cruise docked in port. We took a taxi from the port, $10 for 4 people and it was a 10 minute ride. The taxi driver mumbled something about that he did not like that beach because it smelled. It didnt click until we got out of the taxi and walked through an open beach... More

We were on an RCI cruise Feb. 7-14, 2009 and after much research and factoring in our time considerations, I booked the RCI excursion: Beach Escape - AN54 to “Runaway Beach” before we left home. Antigua is supposed to have the best beaches in the world and “Half-Moon Bay Beach” and “Dickenson Bay Beach” are the two top ranked beaches... More

It is a great place to enjoy the beach which has low wave activity and space to enjoy some privacy. The sand is smooth and white with enough room to lay out with out being on top of someone...unless you want to! The only draw back is the beach bar! The bar that locates most of the pick up points...
