On April 29 in 1903, 90 million tons of rock fell from Turtle Mountain and buried part of the coal mining town of Frank. Most of the 100 people in the path of the slide were killed. First-hand accounts, dramatic images and talented guides bring emotion to this remarkable and tragic event. Open daily year 'round. Frank slide interpretive centre has a great view of the slide, and all the history displayed in interesting forms through the building. Very informative and I had a pleasant experience checking out all the info. More

Very nice little museum in a very wonderful landscape. It is very interesting to learn more about this disaster. More

As an Alberta taxpayer I have mixed feelings about some of these interpretative centres cause I know they cost me a bundle (indirectly), but it really is well done and the Frank Slide is a compelling story that the kids were really interested in. I've been many times before, but this was the kids' first visit and it held their... More

The actual Frank Slide is hard to miss as you drive along the Crowsnest Highway. Stopping into the interpretive centre provides a different view of the slide as well as nicely developed interpretive displays about the natural disaster itself. I thought the $10/adult admission fee was a bit steep for what was offered, albeit the centre is beautiful and offers... More

The interpretive centre opens at 9 am but we got there early & walked along the trail. It is a gravel trail with a couple of slight hills but takes you around so you can see Turtle mountain & where the slide came down with lots of photo opportunities. We were pressed for time so the centre staff were awesome... More

The Frank Slide Interpretive Centre was definitely worth the trip and is rightly considered the premiere attraction in the Crowsnest Pass. Driving through the valley on the way to the interpretive centre was a cool experience in itself. You are basically driving through a narrow little lane carved in the middle of kilometre upon kilometre of massive debris. The Interpretive... More

The Interpretive Centre is currently closed until September 2008, but driving to Frank Slide is still worth it! I drove down at the end of June 2008 and seeing the mountain and the rubble is amazing. Also, there are Heritage signs around the area that you can read describing the tragedy and what happened. Although the Interpretive Centre is closed,... More

Approaching Frank from the east we were overwhelmed by the large boulders surrounding the highway. We decided to go to the interpretive center and took a windy road up to the top of a hill. It cost $22.00 (August, 2007) for a family of 5 and we made it just in time to see a 45 minute show entitled On... More
