On our first trips to Anguilla in 2004/2005, we absolutely loved Uncle Ernie's - great, simple food at a great price. We were a little disappointed on our last visit. First, they didn't have half of what they advertised. No crayfish, conch, etc. Luckily, they had just caught local fish, so we all got the fish sandwich. Completely mediocre. It... More

Have been visiting Uncle Ernie's for 17 years, going back to when Uncle Ernie was alive and running the beach bar. Uncle Ernie's is the best value on Shoal Bay, food is OK, the fish is fresh and probably the best item on the menu, drinks are very reasonable.

For US$10, you get a 1/2 rack of rtender ribs (which were superior to Gwen's Regee), a huge portion of fries and a good size side of cole slaw. Service is quick and friendly. Favorite spot for lunch on Shoal Bay.

Came here on frommers recommendation which rarely steers me wrong. Despite being smack dab in the middle of the Caribbean's most beautiful beach, the food here is lousy. I had the ribs and chicken combination and the meat was dry and bland. I also waited over an hour but its no big deal with the view of that spectacular beach.... More

Drinks were inexpensive but the food was down right gross. We should have known we were in trouble when we asked for medium well and the waitress told us they are not blood burgers. The burgers were some type of foreign meat and I don't mean that in a positive way. I went starving and could only manage to eat... More

OK -- so they have delicious frozen drinks that 2 of my little ones spilled. I think that ticked them off, so instead of serving us fast to get us out of there, they made us wait well over an hour for our food then forgot my order. The food was certainly not worth waiting for . . .even with... More

Uncles Ernies offers relief for travelers bled dry by other local establishments. The food is good, especially the fresh fish! Great drink selection and prices that can't be beat on Anguilla! The location is without compare. Don't show up too early though, lunch begins at 12:00pm. When on the island, definitely stop by Uncle Ernies!

Lunch at uncle ernies was good, but not great. The great part is that its so "beach bum" friendly that we ate in our wet bathing suits after swiming in the ocean. Very relaxed and cheap. I guess its legendary, but if there was a pick I would go to Mac and Hanks just a little ways down.

Uncle Ernie's isn't what it once was, but it still remains a serviceable beach bar choice on Shoal Bay. The food is simple and decent (not as good as the others in the area, but then not nearly as expensive either) and the drinks are relatively cheap. Service can be indifferent or sometimes almost surly. Everything does seem to have... More
