I loved that it was a self guided tour and was also handicapped accessible. I also learned about the Fort and the history of what the purpose of the fort was.

Interesting stories of building and upkeep of Fort Pickens, where there were never any battles! Massive guns and batteries, five years to complete!

Awash in history, this is a must visit for anyone who visits Pensacola. Take the guided tour as it is JUST a fort if you don't get the guides rendition of the history of the grounds. The information about the history is amazing. A must see and do.

Visited the fort while spending a week at the Fort Pickens campground. Enjoyed our day at the fort, and it was very nice to ride our bikes over to the fort. Did not take advantage of the guided tour as there is a self guided one. Would recommend anyone take a couple hours and visit if in the area.

Fort Pickens is part of the National Park System's Gulf Islands National Seashore Park. There is a fee for vehicles of individuals to drive out to the end of the island where Fort Pickens is. The fort itself is mostly in ruins, but there are many places to climb and explore. My children loved exploring the fort and the passageways.... More

This fort has a very interesting history, and our guide was very informative. Used during the Civil War, it was anything but a cherry assignment for soldiers! It was hot, the water was infested, and they suffered greatly. But they've done a great job of restoring some of the fort and it was interesting to visit. I'd recommend this to... More

We took our family of 6 (kids ages 2, 4, and 10) and everyone had a great time. There were many areas to explore and the Blue Angels happened to be flying as we were atop the fort. It was wonderful. All three children managed not to get bored, which is impressive. $8 for our entire vehicle to get in... More

Great for sunsets, romantics, historians and families. Great place to camp too! Watch out for lightning and the rip tides. Take a pole with you or gig the flounder. Fun, Fun, Fun.
