We began this hike at 9 a.m. and took our own sweet time getting to the viewing point. We were glad we started early because most of the trail is in full sun. A fairly easy hike on a well maintained trail. Plenty of varied plants and a few lizards and birds. On the return hike some of the cactus... More

Ted & I hiked the Watchman Trail on 4/25/12, our last full day at Zion. It was a wonderful "last hike". The trail is varied and interesting with ever changing terrain and views. It is a good climb to the view point and we were huffing and puffing much of the way (we'd hibernated most of the winter), but it... More

The Watchman Trail was one of the first I did during my multi-day visit to Zion NP, as part of my month-long tour of the Utah/Arizona natural attractions last year. I have posted separate reviews for several individual trails plus an 'introductory' review for the NP as a whole under the TA webpage entitled 'Zion's Main Canyon'. I have compiled... More

This is a great little trail that is located on the far southern end of the park by the Zion Visitor Center. It's not the most spectacular trail in the park and it's not great as a middle of the day hike due to the heat, but it is a treasure non-the-less. If you are staying in the campgrounds be... More

We did this in the morning as opposed to the recommended sunset time. Very quiet trail - bit chilly in parts as you're in the shade. Steep but not too dangerous footing wise. Great views await you at the end. More

This trail leads off from the campgrounds and is very hard to find because of poor signage. It is a good strenuous hike and gives you good views of the outer areas of the park. More

The watchman is a very easy trail recommend for families with children. It is also very safe. It is just the best hike. More

This trail doesn't see as much use as some of the more popular hikes. Some nice views . Not too strenuous but all uphill. More

This hike was the entire family's favourite - it was the least crowded trail we were on...it was challenging enough for all. The kids counted 8 lizards and the view at the end is spectacular. Does life get any better? More

This 2-mile-long trail at the southern part of Zion National Park was at the edge of what I can handle. Since I'm a 50-plus, slightly overweight desk jockey, I'm thinking that this means the trail is of a moderate difficulty level. That said, I was able to walk this trail OK by taking it slowly. Basically it climbs 456 feet... More
