I gotta say that reading some of the reviews, I think this place is a disappointing to some because they have the wrong expectation of what this place is. If you ride for a half hour and take the shuttle straight there, not getting off at any points, or walking any of the rim, yeah you might say to yourself,... More

I haven't rated all of the views on the South Rim or the Grand Canyon itself - by default most of the South Rim is a five star experience. However I do have to point out Hermit's rest as a disappointment. As noted by others it is pretty much just a gift shop and large set of bathrooms at the... More

The final stop on the shuttle. Everyone is forced to get off of the shuttle here. The gift shop is overpriced at best. More

It was a very nice place to visit, but it's rather hard to get to. Unfortunately it closes quite early. We saw more wildlife there than at any other stop, however. More

picnic tables are needed for those who wish to enjoy a picnic lunch at the west end of their south rim tour. More eating options, beyond hot beverages should be available. More

I visited in July for three days and decided to head out the Hermit's Rest Road via shuttle for the sunset. The shuttles were packed, and so I ended up staying on to the end so it wouldn't be that crowded. I enjoyed looking at this historic fireplace and had a light supper from the snack bar. There are some... More

Hermits rest is a small historic building at the end of Hermit Road which is limited to shuttle buses most of the year and by hiking the Rim Trail. We went in the spring so the large crowds had not yet descended upon the park but we still found the limited facilities at Hermits Rest overwhelmed. We had worked our... More

We took the shuttle to Hermit's Rest, which is the last stop on the shuttle line. We walked back down to the Village. Hermit's Rest provides some good historical background. It was interesting to learn how the site was used, and by whom. More

Not many people venture all the way out to Hermit's Rest but it is well worth the trip. Take the shuttle and stop at all of the beautiful overlooks along the way. Usually not too busy, and just a really great place to visit. They usually have a fire going in their huge fireplace in the winter and there are... More
