This trail takes you to the top where you will have an amazing view of the park. It's a bit of a challenge for those not in top shape. Just take your time and you'll do just fine. Be sure to pack water and snacks and spend the day exploring. Also dress in layers if you go in the winter.

This was our favorite hike in Acadia. It is only 1.6 miles round trip but you get awesome views of the coastline and ocean plus it is a slightly technical hike with ladder rungs built into the rock at points. A little something different compared to the flat carriage roads. If you're bringing children, you really need to be a... More

We hike this everytime we come to Acadia! The same basic view as the Precipice Trail but not nearly as long to ascend. It is not a simple walk, you do some real climbing but there are plenty of rails along the way. Wear good shoes and you'll be fine. At the top, look for the rear trail that will... More

It has been almost 6 months since my climb on the Beehive Trail. Yet I cannot forget the breathtaking expereince. It was definitely a tough climb but the views from the top are worth it. If you go to Acadia this trail is a must.

We went up backwards and I agree, it is NOT for the faint at heart, but an absolutely unforgettable climb! I SO loved the climb, but if you are afraid of ladders and handrails and heights, then this is not the climb for you...If you want that feeling of climbing a mountain without ropes and. The trip down (which was... More

This trail can be a little scary at points but there are hand-rails and ladders to help in some points. It's a short, steep climb with excellent views of Sand Beach and the ocean.

This is a trail for experienced hikers... or at least ones that have no fear. We hiked about half of this trail before coming to an area that required climbing up rock faces on hand rails. I have a little fear of heights when I know there isn't anything preventing me from falling off a cliff... except for my own... More

We were in Acadia three days and climbed the Beehive twice (first time it was foggy so we climbed again when it was clear). After reading reviews about the Precipice, we decided not to try it since it had rained overnight and the trails were wet. The Beehive was challenging and exciting enough to satisfy is. We loved climbing up... More

This was the highlight of my Acadia trip. A little scary for my wife, but I loved it! It starts out tame enough, rock climbing like most of the Acadia hikes, and then the hand holds and ladders appear. Awesome views, you gotta do it.
