The chateau is perched on a rock overlooking two small rivers. There is a tiny museum with some interesting things and a short film in french or dutch with the history. The castle itself is completely ruined but it's a very atmospheric place with beautiful views. Don't expect to spend too long there, but there are plenty of other things... More

Ruins don't come anymroe ghost-like! The place is terrific if you arrive on foot or by bycycle across the woods or in the valley of the Molignee. You can get here by the "Draisines" after quite some pedalling. Although the on-site museum isn't that impressive, the views from atop the castle are what you dreamed of when you built that... More

Montaigle castle sits on top of a rocky spur above the confluence of the rivers Molignée and Flavion. The castle was built on an older site by Guy de Namur in 1298 but thoroughly remodeled in the fifteenth century. Dogs were allowed and we payed €4 per person. For that we got a guide on paper and explanations on the museum from a friendly cashier. I realy enjoyed walking between the ruins and reading about what each part of the castle was used for during the 14th century. It's a realy fairy tale like scenery that brings you back... More
